Day 703 - Boat bother

Somehow we all managed to sleep in until 10am this morning - which put our plans of catching the early boat to a stop! Instead we had a quick breakfast, did a bit of shopping for on the island, and set off to the pier to find a boat out to the Perhentian Island off the east coast of Malaysia.
What we encountered when we got to the pier was reminiscent of our time in India - the touts were out in full force, all trying to get us to buy the tickets from them. There was one guy in particular that actually stood in our way to prevent us from boarding another guy's boat!!
Eventually we found a nice little family travel shop to buy our tickets from (and got a discount too!), before heading off to a nearby restaurant where a little old lady giggled at Adam's attempts to speak Malaysian, but cooked us up an excellent Mee Goreng for lunch!!
As we bounced our way to the island, we watched as the golden beaches of the mainland disappear behind us, and left only the shadowy hills of the highlands visible. Soon our eyes were trained on the impending tropical paradise of Coral Bay - the beach where we plan to spend the next week kicking back and being beach bums.
We found a room very quickly - not wanting to repeat our experience on Koh Toa of walking in the sun for hours on end - and then jumped in the clear green water for a dip. Though Adam kept his ears out of the water because of an ear infection, Liv managed to spot a family of clown fish (just like Nemo!) flittering in and out of the anemone hideout-home! Adam didn't want to miss out so dipped just his eyes into the cool waters for a glance.
As the day came to an end the daily tropical storm washed over the island, creating an atmosphere of excitement white caps surfaced and black clouds covered the island - though the sun still attempted to pierce the blackness with its mighty rays.
Without warning the storm departed and the sky was blanketed in flames as the essential elements of heat and water combined forces to produce a show of colours no artist could ever match.
Adlibing Perhentian Paradise.
