Day 694 - Too late, too expensive, too hot

After getting very little sleep on the overnight bus (Adam even resorted to sleeping in the aisle on the floor) we arrived at the pier at 5.30am for our 7am boat. Unfortunately the boat didn't arrive and get on its way until almost 10am. The only good thing about being on the pier was the free coffee and donuts we managed to score for free from a tour group. On the boat we slowly made our way from the mainland through the tropical waters of Thailand's coast, passing islands and flying fish along the way. Once we made it to Koh Tao we spent way too long looking for cheap, available accommodation - we finally found a triple room for not too bad a price (but over our budget nonetheless), and immediately went out for lunch.

Fuelled up we wandered the few streets of Koh Tao getting a feel for what's here and what there is to do - and on an island only 21kmsq it's basically eat, drink, sunbathe, snorkel and scuba.

While Adam recovered with a snooze, Liv and Rita went out for a bath in the warm waters. We're staying on the biggest beach here, and it's beautiful, but the water is so shallow (especially in low tide) that you have to negotiate your way over sharp rocks and coral just to get above your knees and towards the cooler waters. So the girls basically just sat in knee deep water and chatted a few hours away. In the evening the major sight seeing for the day was enjoying the splash of sunset colours across the waters that will be our home for the next week ... anyone jealous? Adlibing it to Koh Tao.
