Day 699 - Double diving

In the single digit hours of the morning, the rising sun threw its light through the window enticing our heads from the pillow for a glance at the pink sky before plonking back down for a few more minutes sleep. At 7am Adam and Rita got picked up and whisked off to Scuba Junction to go scuba diving. Once they had their kit sorted they jumped on a longtail boat to do battle with the choppy waters on the way out to the dive boat.

The 45 minute journey out to Chumpon Pinnacles went quickly and soon we were finning our way through the waters off the coast of Koh Tao. At this dive site we were in much deeper water than a few days before - descending to around 22m and being rewarded with an amazing array of marine life. White eyed moray eels peered from rocky cracks, scorpion fish hid amongst the wiggly sea anemones, gigantic groper and snapper made their presence felt, and crawlies hid amongst the coral.

After an hour on the surface as our boat made its way to site number 2, we were ready to jump in the waters at Green Rock dive site. This dive was a demanding dive on our bodies as the current was very strong - at one point we were kicking at full strength and not moving an inch. But the bonus was on the opposite side of the Green Rock Pinnacles where we were able to drift without a kick required. At this site we had the joy of rocky cavern swim-throughs and got to see new species of butterfly fish as well as everything from the previous dive - but here we were surrounded by yellow-tailed fish in schools so thick that our vision was blurred.

When the taxi finally delivered us back at Hin Wong bay we found Liv perched on the bungalow balcony taking turns between reading and looking out onto the gorgeous bay below.

The rest of the day was spent in much the same way as yesterday, except that Adam joined Sean in a motorbike mission over to Leang Thieu another bay a few kilometres away. Here the guys enjoyed an afternoon of killer rock jumps into the deep waters going flip for flip, with Sean winning with a perfect double somersault off the rocks.

We spent the evening on the deck watching the sun slip away and the moon rise into the night sky while we continued to enjoy island life and getting to know our resident family of geckos: here's the daddy hanging out on our wall:

Adlibing yet more water.
