Day 587 - On our way to Udaipur

Today we managed to catch our bus to Udaipur, albeit a day later than planned. The bus was almost empty, which is a complete contrast to what we've seen so far on our travels in India - after all there are over a billion people in this country. Sometimes we wonder where everyone's hiding and then we arrive in the overflowing cesspit that is the reality of Indian cities. This was amplified in Udaipur as we arrived here on a festival day and there were beggars lining the gutters outside the main temples - however the festival didn't stop us from finding a nice hotel at a decent price. Plus we got to try special festival sweets - a combination of sweet spices and sesame seeds.

We met a couple of Aussies on our rooftop and got some great advice about our up and coming travels to Malaysia and Indonesia from them. We chatted away for so long that day turned to night and perched as we were overlooking Pichola Lake and the Palace that floats atop it (made famous by James Bond in Octopussy) we got some stunning views. Adlibing it to our final stop in Rajasthan.
