Day 577 - Chilling along the ghats

Once again we enjoyed a lazy breakfast on the rooftop, the sun working hard to entice us to spend the entire day there, but the lapping of the lake was calling! So we made our way through town where we past shops full of wonders that although we've seen them before, still reach out and grab our attention.
Eventually we made it down to the ghats (landings leading to the water), where we spent the next few hours wandering from ghat to ghat. The ghats line Pushkar lake, where both pilgrims and locals bathe in the water, or wash their clothes and beneath the slimy green film ginormous fish relax in their habitat, knowing that in this strictly vegetarian town they're safe from the dinner table.

We finally found a secluded ghat where we sat in the shade, and enjoyed the views across the lake where blue buildings and temples reflect in the lake.
After another fab meal for dinner, we went for our nightly stroll around the colourful explosion that is Pushkar town, before our final chai and flick game on our rooftop, while watching the 3 year old boy from our hotel battle to get his kite in the air.
The sister-in-law of the hotel owner is in charge of cooking and making the delicious chai, she really wanted to engage with us, and even though the language barriers made chatting difficult, we really loved her smiling company.
Adlibing Gandhi Ghat.
