Day 576 - Milling the hills around town

Lazy, Lazy, Lazy! That's how our day today can best be described. We had a leisurely breakfast on our hotel's rooftop, soaking in the sun, while reading and generally falling into more of a holidaying tourist mode rather than busy backpackers running around sightseeing. We feel like our accommodation in Pushkar was such a great find - we feel right at home here, with the family looking after us. We would recommend anyone staying in one of the cute and clean 5 rooms here at Rising Star Hotel (just across from the White House Hotel in the LP). Eventually we dragged ourselves from the roof and made our way into town for some streetside snacks for lunch. While Liv had a much needed chat with mumbles and pops back in Wellington, Adam did some internet research about some of our upcoming destinations.
By late afternoon the sun's heat had lessened and we decided to partake in some adventuring for the day, and so we headed across the sandy roads and climbed a stony path to the Pap Mochani temple on a hill behind town. At the top we found ourselves looking in one direction towards open desert plains and faraway hills, and to the other over a sprawling town, centred around sacred Pushkar lake, where carved temple pyramids soar into the sky.Back on our hotel roof, we drank more tea, and played our own version of a common counter flicking game that people all over the country play.
The evening was spent at an out of the way eatery where the prices are much more reasonable than the tourist traps in the centre of town. Filled up, we wandered the night streets, enjoying the music flowing from the stalls lining the streets, and taking in the smells (including the cake stall that drew us and our wallets to it). The night became pitch black as we sat under the colourful light bulbs on our rooftop and played yet more games of "flick", and drinking more cups of tea!!
Adlibing rooftop games.
