Day 548 - The Jungle Blog

We left Kathmandu today (40kgs lighter) and headed to Chitwan National Park - our second to last stop before going back to India! We arrived in Sauraha (the small village on the outside of the National Park) and got a free jeep into town to look at some guest houses. This was actually a mild nightmare as we couldn't find somewhere within our budget and standards for a long time! We eventually had to settle for something a bit more expensive, with the plan to move tomorrow to somewhere cheaper.

In the evening we wandered the streets, dodging elephants (plus the gigantic piles of poo they leave behind!) and horse-drawn carts. We made our way to the riverside where we enjoyed a drink while watching the gorgeous sunset over the sparkling waters. It was cool to see local villagers floating down the river on the harvested bamboo grass.

Soon enough a day of travel fatigue caught up with us and we retired to our books and beds.
