Days 536 - 543 - Pokhara

Our days in Pokhara have been just what we needed: after 6 months of travel since we left work in China, this has been the first time we have really just stopped in one place and relaxed. Our days follow pretty much the same schedule every day: we wake up and go 10 minutes down the road to our favourite breakfast restaurant where we meet Peter and the boys for a chilled start to the day (and a delicious meal that finishes around 11am!). Between brekky and lunch we spend time either on the computer or shopping, and then for lunch we find Peter and somewhere new to eat. In the afternoon we read our books, relax in the sun, or spend more time trying to catch up on the blog (a seemingly never ending task!). For dinner we all meet up again for yet another tasty meal in one of the many restaurants around town!! not bad if you ask us ...
The one variation to this happened on Thursday when we went out for a walk up to the Peace Pagoda that overlooks the lake. We chose the scenic forest route that took us past locals washing in the river, villages and part of the Tibetan refugee village. At one stage we came across a huge troupe of monkeys jumping from tree to tree and creating general chaos as monkeys tend to do!
After a couple of hours we made it to the lookout point over the city and over to the nearby Pagoda, before then going to see the nice enough Pagoda itself. We made our way back to town by a much shorter 20 minute walk straight down and a row boat to the other side of the lake - much easier!!!

Back in town we got lunch at a lakeside restaurant (as the sun began to set!) and tried delicious Italian icecream for dessert. On Sunday night we saw a beautiful sunset over the Himalayas - this is the view from our hotel roof:
On Monday Peter took us to a great restaurant with great views out over the lake for lunch. We ended up staying here for hours sitting in the sun and watching the fishermen and boatsmen out on the water, before strolling back to town to pack for our bus trip to Kathmandu tomorrow.
Now this is what we call a holiday!

Adlibing chilled out Pokhara with friends.
