Although this is our 366
th day on the
Adlibing Asia Tour, it actually marks our year in Asia as 2008 is a leap year, so we gained ourselves and extra day! We decided to make the most of our extra time in true relaxed holiday style.
Here is a recap of today's events as told by mumbles and pops, with our additions:
So today was officially a rest day, after a good sleep in and much creaking
of joints to get out of bed we pottered around, had breakfast in our room and
did a bit of planning for the next couple of days. We are staying here tonight
and tomorrow night as there is no accommodation in Hangzhou until Monday night
so we'll head there on the early train/bus on Monday and probably stay there
for one night, 2 days then head to
Shuzhou for a couple of days before heading
off to Shanghai and the
adlibing crew returns to two!

After our planning we did a bit of reading of the planet and found a village called
Shexian which is only about 45 minutes away by bus that has the only surviving 4 sided
stone entrance gate or
something like that:

- so off we walked to get the bus waving it down on the side of the road -probably quite good for the joints actually. Stayed in the village a couple
of hours wandering the old streets and trying to avoid the mega-phone wielding tour group leader. We successfully managed to veer off the main trails into yet more Chinese alleyways hidden from the tour groups but
available to those willing to do it their own way (the
adlibing way).

Now it's nearly time to head out for something to eat and probably none of us
will complain about a relatively early night tonight! It's been a really warm
day today, no sun to speak of but probably around 32 - 34 and very humid, so some of the crew
are just enjoying it knowing that in less than a week they'll be lucky to be
in double figures! The other 2 crew-members are dreading as well as looking forward to a year of these sort of temperatures!
A final word from mumbles and pops - we are still thoroughly enjoying being
included in the
adlibing adventures and though we are looking forward to some aspects
of coming home we haven't got tired of the Asian adventure. Food is still great, people friendly, weather beautiful and of course being with Liv and Adam
makes it perfect.
The
adlibing adventure continues.
