Day 674 - Lazy Island time

Lao people are known for being very relaxed (also known as lazy), and on the island this is magnified to a point where it seems like we're going back in time!! With this is mind we barely moved from our hammocks before lunch - we had a great time watching lazy life go by on the river with men precariously balanced on their narrow boats as they threw nets into the water; kids splashing in the summer heat; and buffalo swimming in the water before emerging into heat and grazing on the grass right before us. On our search for a swimming hole we found Eric and Eliza (the accident crew) and all together we continued to search for semi-secluded place to jump in the water. We spent a good few hours lazing on submerged rocks as the water flowed past and provided some reprieve from the midday heat. For lunch we had a picnic of sandwiches and fruit on the riverside before retreating back to the hammocks!

As the day slipped away we found extra time for swimming so we joined the local kids who were having a blast in the cool waters - it's great that even though they do this every day their reaction is still the same as you'd expect from the first swim of the season! We stopped for samosas on our way to catch the sunset, but after slipping into island time we arrived just as the sun disappeared into the darkness but still decided a beer while watching the rest of the show was appropriate.

Over drinks we all pondered where Geckoes come from (the things you do on an Island with no power), and were totally suprised when we searched our bed for spiders, we found 2 gecko eggs (so, they come from eggs afterall) under Liv's pillow! And on Easter eve too!!

Adlibing it in the water.
